American Salute 2022! 🇺🇸

Join us this weekend for three performances of Staten Island Philharmonic’s American Salute 2022! Program will include selections from “West Side Story,” a world premiere by Staten Island composer Howard Fox, a salute to the armed forces, and much more. And it’s FREE! Bring a lawn chair, bring refreshments, bring your friends! On Monday, July 4th, Snug Harbor will also have vendors selling crafts, and Harbor Eats will be open for refreshments.

Ukrainian Heritage Concert

Join the Staten Island Philharmonic this Sunday, June 26, 6 pm, on the South Meadow Stage at Snug Harbor, for a great concert featuring music by Ukrainian-born composer Sergei Prokofiev. The first half includes the classic musical tale “Peter and the Wolf!” Bring a lawn chair, bring refreshments, bring all your friends!

This concert is a collaboration with the Dorothy Delson Kuhn Music Institute of the Joan & Alan Bernikow Jewish Community Center. It is sponsored, in part, by public funding from the New York City Council Cultural Immigrant Initiative, through the office of Councilman Steven Matteo, and by good friends like YOU!

ELEGY FOR ALEX

Please join the Staten Island Philharmonic for a FREE concert tribute to our founding music director, Alex Guzman, who passed away last year. If you didn’t know Alex, you missed a fine musician and a wonderful, bright, funny, loyal, and loving guy. Program will include 2 pieces by Staten Island composer Howard Fox, Casey at the Bat (Alex was a shortstop) narrated by Louis Bruschi, An Alex Portrait, and Dvorak Symphony No. 8. DAY OF THE DEAD CONCERT

Bring your bones on down to the Staten Island Philharmonic’s Day of the Dead concert! Saturday, October 30, 4 pm, Zion Lutheran Church, 505 Watchogue Rd. Costumes encouraged. Lots of great music and treats. And it’s FREE!

2021 COVID Memorial Concert

Please join us for this wonderful, FREE concert–SI Philharmonic’s gift to our Staten Island community to offer healing and hope. Our program includes two world premieres–“Threnody,” by Howard Fox, based on a poem by Jonathan Foc, and “Hope is the Thing With Feathers,” by Steve Liotta, based on a poem by Emily Dickinson. Four wonderful singers will join us for this event–Jeannine Otis, Emily Okaah, John Griffin, and Larry Marshall, performing inspirational songs, like “You Raise Me Up,” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” The program also includes the Faure “Pavene,” Barber’s “Adagio for Strings,” and excerpts from Elgar’s “Enigma Variations.” The performance will be conducted by Scott Jackson Wiley.
